If you're like me, you have baby fine hair that tangles when you blow on it and looks greasy after an hour. I spent my time sitting in traffic yesterday investigating why this happens to our poor innocent souls and discovered its just another great thing that was inherited, your hormones are cray or you're screwing shit up with your shower routine.
They say...and by they I mean the hair gods of the universe...that women should only wash their hair once or twice a week. Dudes, if you're reading this for some reason, wash your shit daily or TWICE a day because you guys walk outside and are suddenly nasty. I want long luscious locks so if I need to spread out my shampoos, godspeed, but I will figure it the fuck out.
A few tricks to share with you:
1. Dry shampoo is your new BFF! Some brands I love are Kenra Platinum Dry Shampoo. It works best on lighter shades of hair. Keratin Complex Volumizing Dry Shampoo which comes in a brush form and is tinted so if you have roots, this could also be your new life partner. Just stay out of the rain because you'll be a mess if it gets wet.
2. Put your hair in a messy bun like I have above and throw on a jeweled headband so it looks like your whole set up was on purpose and work appropriate. Teasing the crown of your head will also help give volume and make your do look less like it's natural Crisco self
3. Only wash your bangs and the side hairs around your ears. I do this in the sink and only use shampoo. If you have oily scalp AND facial grease, (damn I'm sexy) your bangs and those hairs collect the most grease the quickest. A good tip is to keep your hair off your face which only adds to the problem.

These 3 tips should buy you at least 3-4 days without washing. When you do shampoo, try out a cleansing conditioner instead. I am OBSESSED with WEN by Chaz Dean. It's your one-stop-shop. It cleanses and conditions in one product. They have mixtures for all different hair types so make sure you get the one that's right for you. You can also use a dime size as your leave it for extra volume and conditioning. My hair never held a curl until I started using WEN. Now my curls last for days with minor touch up. If you're not using the WEN, try not to condition your roots with a heavy cream. Save that for the shaft (Yes, I giggled because I'm immature) and the ends where they are the most dry.
