Don't worry, I will post my final thoughts and before/afters of coconut oil pulling soon, I was just too lazy to take a picture this morning. I have yet again landed myself a new go-to product. In addition to the Coconut Oil, I have been using a new product on my hair. Now, before I start, I don’t always give kittens and rainbows product reviews. There are often products I try and don’t like. Just because I don’t like them doesn’t mean you won’t. It just means they didn’t work well on my hair or skin so take this with a grain of bitter.
I’m not a professional, I’ve never claimed to be but I worked in salons throughout highschool and college. I blame this career choice on being a product whore but it is what it is. Anyway, I had the distinct pleasure of stocking shelves with products. Since I was little, I have smelled EVERYTHING. Anything I touch, I whiff. I don’t know why, I just do. About an hour ago, a co-worker called me out for sniffing a piece of paper in front of the office. Look. It smelled like yearbooks and I was feeling nostalgic. Get off my jock. Anyway, since I have this ‘issue’ (which I don’t even think is an issue, more of a compulsion) I have smelled just about every hair care product from the early 2000s. Biolage has been a product I’ve tried several times over the years. To be honest, I really don’t like it but it smells so fucking good, I always get suckered into it. My reasoning: I have baby fine hair that is chemically damaged. It tangles just from walking. I used one of the hydrating/moisturizing varieties and it always makes combing out my hair a rat’s nest. It doesn’t make my hair silky and smooth, it actually makes it feel more coarse.

As they have rebranded and reformulated their products over the years, I always give them another benefit of the doubt with the same result. I was in ULTA with my sister over the weekend and she wanted to try a new Biolage line that was recently released. I was very hesitant since I haven’t liked their products in the past but I was intrigued by their formula specifically for over processed FRAGILE hair. I would absolutely say my hair is fragile as it breaks off when I brush it. One of the lines new to me is called Biolage Advanced and they have different varieties based on your hair and the issue you are trying to solve. The one I tried is called Biolage Advanced Fiberstrong. I feel if I’m going to spend money on a product, it’s going to be a great conditioner so I went for that and an oil from their other new product line called ExquisiteOil. ExquisiteOil also comes in formulas for various hair types. I chose the Strengthening Treatment. It smells fantastic, it’s light-weight but damn does it pack a punch. This is what it’s supposed to do:
NEW! ExquisiteOil Strengthening Treatment
Strengthening Treatment is an ultra-lightweight, scented oil that strengthens thin, fragile hair for ultimate vitality. Formula with Polynesian Tamanu Oil boosts resistance to breakage while leaving hair replenished and beaming with exquisite shine. - See more at: http://www.matrix.com/our-products/haircare/biolage/exquisiteoil/exquisiteoil-strengthening-treatment#sthash.XsgMEKZB.dpuf
They also have ones for smoothing, softening etc. so if you’d like to try one, read the label or do your research online to see which product works best for you. I’ve been using the Fiberstrong conditioner every time I wash and I put the oil on every morning and night whether I wash or not. It’s that light weight that it doesn’t make my hair feel greasy. Start with one pump. If you think you need more, go for more. Do your trial at night before bed so if you get too much, you can just shower it out in the morning. My hair has seriously been like night and day. I normally blow dry my hair on cool then use a flat iron, curling iron, wand etc. I don’t think I’ve been able to go without a heating tool since I had virgin hair in 2001. Well friends, I have gone heatless everyday this week so far! All I did was dry the majority of the moisture from my roots with a cool heat blow dryer and used a round brush on the ends. With the proper products I was good to go! It feels great to have my hair finally be so healthy. I’ve read everywhere that your hair will grow faster the healthier it is. So if you’re trying to grow yours out, do your best to get it in good shape and take care of it lazy ass.
